I gave this book 3 stars because there are some parts that are already outdated which can cause any beginner to get lost or wonder why certain things don't work as shown in the book.

This can create a lot of frustration especially if you're trying to learn PS as a beginner. At times the book is veg and assumes that you will know what they are talking about when you are given instructions to do something.

I think it's an okay book for what you learn, but overall, this could have been done much better. This book does provide step-by-step instructions that teach you how to use the different tools in photoshop. It is clear and concise in some areas and in others, you will find yourself completely lost.

It does provide a lot of information for beginners. I'm on chapter 6 of 15 and I've already learned so much! I'm learning photoshop so I will be able to edit my artwork before printing it.

This book breaks everything down into single steps, which are very easy to follow and understand. Though I have a great visual memory, I have other memory issues and so it takes me longer than average to learn new steps on the computer. If I can do this, anyone can. Once you purchase the book, you register it at the PeaachPit website, then download image files- one folder for each chapter. They show you an "end" photo for each project, so you know what you are making.

They also provide the start image s you will be manipulating in a given chapter. Once you register your book, you can access a copy online as well. It's the same text, but with videos added, showing how to do each step. I spent a lot of time trying to find commands that are not in the web version until I realized this book relates to Lightroom Classic cc.

Even then it is poorly written and difficult to follow for a newcomer. It surprises me that books of this type do not do trial runs with novices to check that instructions are clear.

The section on importing files to Photoshop from Lightroom did not work as stated. Very disappointed. Write simply and check that the exact instructions work.

If the software changes then issue updates. Be very careful to articulate exactly the importing process. Eventually I did learn to use Lightroom though without the assistance of this book.
